What we know as Toronto Mayor John Tory ponders re-election bid

CNN’s Poppy Harlow has more on the developments in Mayor John Tory’s office.

TORONTO — Here’s what we know, as of Friday morning: Mayor John Tory has told his staff that he intends to stay on in office, though he hasn’t yet announced a decision on running for re-election.

But sources close to the mayor say he will make a formal announcement before the summer to say he will run again, and has already won over at least one top ally in Mayor (and Queen’s Park, as we’ve previously reported) Patrick Brown.

There’s a growing chorus of people in Toronto who believe that a Tory win in October will do wonders for the fortunes of the Liberal government in Toronto.

And as we’ve said many times before: Don’t underestimate John Tory.
