Following UConn’s 54-53 victory over Maryland Sunday in the Final Four in New Orleans, the player who scored the game’s last four points is out of the game with an injury.

The next day, UConn coach Geno Auriemma took to Twitter to apologize.

After scrolling through the tweets, Auriemma was convinced Bueckers needed attention for a reaction to a hit in the final minute of the contest.

“Happened to me in a game a long time ago,” he tweeted. “Ran to coach: ‘Hey coach, ma’am I don’t think I’m playing no more.’ Coach: ‘Why not.’ – Said coach very loudly

Bueckers fell to the court headfirst and was ruled out of the game by Auriemma.

“@ClutchNCT: @GenoAuriemma sorry girl, on to next season and it’s too early for a follow up?” Auriemma replied. “It’s much better this way. You got 2.

“Not a bad run when you can sit out 2 blocks and then back on 2 in the last 2-3 mins of play,” he tweeted. “That’s some pain management right there.”
